Hi guys I am officially back after a very long break from blogging. It is coming up on almost a year since I last posted a blog post or done anything with my blog. It's crazy to think that it has been almost a full year as it really doesn't feel like it has been that long. It feels weird to be typing this as I don't even know where to begin or what to say. I guess to make this post somewhat organized and not all over the place I am going to break this post up into three sections.
If you don't want to read this whole long post I also explained pretty much everything in this video as I thought it would be nice to talk to Y'all!
#1: Why I Stopped Blogging?
This is a very complicated answer and to be honest I don't know if I even fully know myself why I stopped blogging for almost a full year. As many of you know last summer I moved to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina for a summer internship. I planned on blogging while I was there and sharing my experiences but to be honest I just lacked the time and also motivation. I was either busy working, enjoying my free time exploring, or hanging out with my roommates. I also found myself not having a lot of creative ideas on what to post. Mel Chic May started to feel like a chore more than a hobby. I started to feel like I had to try and get a post up even if I didn't really want to. So I slowly started to step away from the blog and fully enjoy my summer. Which I did, I don't think I have ever been so sad to leave a place and close a chapter in my life. There were times when I wanted to get back into it but I just didn't have the desire. Then once I moved back to school and started college I got busy with school and a new internship I started. Basically long story short I lacked the time and creative energy. So you are probably wondering why start back at it now? Well first off recently I have been truly missing the fun I had running my blog. Not because I feel like I have to start blogging again but because I want to. I did really enjoy it when I did it and recently I have been needing a fun hobby in my life again. There are times when I have felt kind of lost recently and I realized not blogging is part of it. I don't think I realized it until recently but blogging for me is like keeping a diary and it almost helps me sort my thoughts out. I hope that made sense that was a really long answer!
#2: Life Update
I wanted to give you a brief update on what I have been up to the past year. So I started off last May moving to Hilton Head for the summer. Like I mentioned I had the time of my life and am actually missing it way more than I thought I would this summer. I meet some great friends, enjoyed the weather, and explored the surrounding areas. I also worked my ass off but I really enjoyed my time down south. I was in Hilton Head until the beginning of August. My grandparents did come to visit me a few times in HHI which was really nice. I celebrated my birthday with them and we went shark fishing! Once I was done with my internship I went to Florida for a few days with my sister to visit my grandparents before I started my junior year of college. I started by junior year at the end of August as well as internship working in community relations at a health insurance company. I worked in the office three days a week. I also continued to be really involved in my sorority and even became the treasure. I also traveled to Ohio for a leadership conference in February. For Thanksgiving, my family spent some time in Boston which was tons of fun. I finished off the fall semester and came home to lots of holiday festivities. I even took a last minute quick trip to Florida after the new year. The not so fun part is around Christmas time a got pretty sick. I started to get really tired with body aches and million other things. I spent about four months going to lots of doctors and getting lots of testing. Long story short I have UCTD as for right now. It is an autoimmune disorder but I am still in the process of figuring everything out. I am not going to go into lots of detail as this could be a whole separate post (which I will do). I then started my spring semester and still continued to do my internship as well. I traveled to Dallas and Florida over spring break. I first visited my roommate from over the summer in Dallas and then I visited my grandparents in Florida for the second part of my break. I went to Discovery Cove when in Florida and has SO MUCH fun! Then for Easter my family spent some time in D.C. I had not been there in years and I forgot how much I loved it. In fact, I made plans to go back for the 4th of July. I finished off my spring semester strong by getting into two different honors societies. To be honest, my spring semester was one of the hardest I have had so far as I was dealing with all my health issues while going to school. I sometimes don't even know how I was doing it. Needless to say, I am happy to have a break from school and be home for the summer. I am continuing my internship through the summer and will be home for the first summer since I started college. Next year will be my last year of my undergrad which is crazy! I am super excited to share with you my adventures over the summer as I have quite a few trips planned.
#3: The Future Of My Blog
If you have been following me since my Mel Chic May days then things might look a bit different! I decided to completely re-brand and my new blog is now Miss Melanie May! I am super excited for the new look and feel of the blog. I just felt that my name fit me better. I plan on posting about a wide variety of topics and I think the new name fits that better. Not that I didn't love Mel Chic May but when I created that name it was strictly for a fashion blog. I also think the new color scheme goes better with my style! I am super excited about this new look. Like I said I am planning to post about a lot of different topics. As far as a posting schedule I am hoping to post at least a few times a week and also do more videos as well! If you have been following me since Mel Chic May thanks for sticking around and if you are new thanks for stopping by!
WOW, that was one long post but I wanted to explain everything. I am super excited to be back and I want to thank you for your support and if you read this whole post I am impressed (I can ramble) ;)
